LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Aug. 20) – The California (PA) men's cross country team was slotted eighth in the preseason Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) poll announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.
The Vulcans finished sixth in the team standings at the league championships, highlighted by a third-place individual finish. Cal later finished eighth overall at the NCAA Regional Championships to mark a third-consecutive top-10 performance at the event.
Two-time, defending-league Champion Shippensburg was the preseason favorite after garnering 14 first-place votes. The Raiders placed second at the regional championships last year to earn a team qualifier to the NCAA National Championships. East Stroudsburg received the remaining first-place vote and ranked second overall. Slippery Rock, Kutztown and Lock Haven rounded out the remaining top five.
The Vulcans will travel to Pleasant Ridge Park in Fairview, Pennsylvania, on Sept. 5 to begin the season at Race in the Park hosted by Gannon.
