LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (April 22) – Following his weekend performance in North Carolina, California (PA) junior
Marlin Davis was tabbed the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Track Athlete of the Week for the third time this season (first time outdoor) on Tuesday afternoon.
Davis established a pair of season-best times while at the Aggie Invitational hosted by North Carolina A&T State. He reached the NCAA provisional standard in the 100-meter dash for the first time this spring with a time of 10.44 seconds, which would have eclipsed the school record if not wind-aided. Davis finished 11th overall in a field of nearly 90 entries in the event with Cravont Charleston, the 2023 USA Outdoor Champion, topping both the preliminaries and finals. The South Carolina native also crossed the finish line in 21.55 seconds in the 200-meter dash to place 19th overall in a field of over 80 entries while at NC A&T.
A 5-foot-7 junior, Davis ranks third on the PSAC Performance List in the 100 meters this spring. He sits just three-hundredths of a second behind the runner positioned second on the list while the top time in the league was bolstered by a significant 4.1 wind earlier this month. Davis also is slotted eighth in the 200 meters on the league's performance list.
Davis earned All-PSAC status in the 60-meter dash at the indoor league championships before an injury altered his performance in the finals of the 200 meters. He is the first sprinter to garner weekly league honors at least three times in a year since 10-time PSAC Champion Jae'Len Means in 2019.
The Vulcans return to action this weekend at multiple events in Eastern Pennsylvania, highlighted by the Penn Relays with entries competing on both Thursday, April 24, and Friday, 25.
