Santino Marra was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Marra hit at a .500 clip (8-for-16) with seven RBI over five games, including a split of a four-game series in divisional play. He finished with a 1.475 OPS behind four extra-base hits, three hit by pitches and one walk. Marra tallied three hits, including a game-tying two-run inside-the-park homer, four RBI and one hit by pitch on Tuesday against Point Park. The Uniontown native then reached base twice (single, hit by pitch) and stole two bases in a doubleheader at Gannon Friday. Marra collected four hits (three doubles), three RBI, one run scored, one walk and one hit by pitch in a twinbill on Sunday versus the Golden Knights.
A four-year starter, Marra ranks third in the PSAC with a .429 average (33-for-77) and second in the league with a .526 on-base percentage. He also has tallied a .597 slugging percentage behind seven extra-base hits and has posted 19 RBI from the cleanup spot this season, including 10 RBI with two out.
Marra received the weekly league accolade for the third time in his career after garnering it twice during the 2023 campaign. Cal has received the Athlete of Week laurel four times in the last five weeks.
The Vulcans return to action tomorrow, Tuesday, April 1, when they host a single nine-inning contest against Wheeling at EQT Park in non-conference play at 1 p.m.
