Cal reaches four marks at Carnegie Mellon

PITTSBURGH (March 29) – The Vulcans won a pair of individual events and reached four league-qualifying marks over the weekend while competing at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.

VICTORIES
• Senior Logan Pfister won the high jump by clearing 2.04 meters (6-8.25 feet) on his second attempt at the height.
• Classmate Noah Bernarding earned the victory in the 800-meter run for a consecutive week by crossing the finish line in 1:54.64.

STANDARDS
• Bernarding reached a pair of PSAC-qualifying times while in Pittsburgh.
• He set a season-best time in the 800 meters and won the race by over three-tenths of a second.
• Bernarding posted a time of 3:54.27 in the 1,500-meter run to qualify for the league championships while making his debut in the event this spring.
• Pfister reached the conference standard in the high jump after recording the highest mark in the PSAC this year.
• Junior Jonathan Thrush made his outdoor debut on Saturday and posted a time of 14:38.43 in the 5,000-meter run – the top time in the league.

NEXT
• The Vulcans return to action at the Dave Labor Invitational hosted by Slippery Rock on April 4-5.
