BETHLEHEM, Pa. (March 1) – The California (PA) men's track & field team scored in a pair of events during the opening day of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships on Saturday with the event being hosted by Lehigh.
Junior
Jonathan Thrush earned All-PSAC laurels in the 5,000-meter run for the third-consecutive season. He placed third in the event with a time of 15 minutes, 23.21 seconds while competing for only the third time this season. The Vulcans have boasted an All-PSAC honoree in the 5,000 meters seven times over the last 18 years.
Cal sits sixth in the team standings after totaling nine points through five events. Shippensburg, the 13-time defending-league champion, maintains the lead in the team standings with 48 points after the opening day, while Slippery Rock ranks second with 40 points and Kutztown sits third with 35 points.
Senior
Logan Pfister scored in the long jump with a personal record of 6.95 meters (22-9.75 feet) on Saturday. He placed sixth while competing in the long jump at the PSAC Championships for the first time in his career.
Junior
Marlin Davis qualified for the finals in both the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash while at the league meet. He placed third during the preliminaries of the 60 meters with a time of 6.81 seconds and finished third in the 200 meters by posting a time of 22.10 seconds.
Fellow junior
Aidan McMahon also qualified for the finals of the 60 meters on Saturday. He set a personal record during the preliminaries with a time of 6.94 seconds while placing seventh overall.
The Vulcans return to action at the PSAC Championships tomorrow, Sunday, March 2, when they compete in six total events, starting at 11:30 a.m.
