STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (Feb. 21) – Junior
Marlin Davis reached a pair of NCAA provisional qualifying marks and reset his own school record in 60-meter dash on Friday while competing at the Penn State Tune-Up.
RECORD
• Davis won the finals of the 60 meters by crossing the finish line in 6.74 seconds.
• He initially broke the decade-old school record in his program debut in December with a time of 6.78 seconds.
NCAA STANDARDS
• Davis registered NCAA provisional times in both the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash while at Penn State.
• He ranks No. 25 on the national performance list in the 60 meters.
• Davis posted the fastest time in the PSAC this year in the 200 meters and sits No. 31 in the country.
PSAC STANDARDS
• Davis cleared the qualifying mark in the 60 meters and ranks just one-hundredth of a second behind the top time in the league this winter.
• He also reached the conference standard in the 200 meters with a time of 21.46 seconds, which is the fastest time in the PSAC by four-tenths of a second.
• Senior
Noah Bernarding posted a qualifying time for a consecutive week in the 800-meter run, finishing with a season-best time of 1:53.47.
• Classmate
Logan Pfister registered a height of 1.95 meters (6-4.75 feet) in the high jump to reach the conference standard.
AT MUSKINGUM
• The Vulcans finished third in the team standings while also having entries compete at the Muskie Meet #4 hosted by Muskingum on Friday.
• Junior
Jonathan Thrush qualified for the league championships in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:18.83 while making his season debut in the event.
• Classmate
Aidan McMahon reached the conference standard with a time of 6.99 during the finals of the 60 meters.
• Thrush earned the victory in the 5,000 meters despite competing for the first time in nearly a month.
• Junior
Kolby Kent and senior
Kohen Stover tied for the win in the 3,000-meter run in Ohio with identical times of 9:25.24.
NEXT
• Cal will compete at the PSAC Championships in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, on the campus of Lehigh on March 1-2.
• Lehigh is serving as host of the championship event for the second-straight year.
• The Vulcans have qualified entries in eight different events for the conference meet with six entries positioned among the top five on the performance list this winter.
