CSC Academic All-America Teams

CALIFORNIA (July 10) – California (PA) senior Noah Bernarding was voted a Third-Team Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Wednesday afternoon.

Bernarding becomes the program's second Academic All-American in the last three years and the 10th all-time in program history – all since 2009. The Vulcans were one of four Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) teams to feature an Academic All-American on the men's track & field/cross country teams this season.

A 5-foot-10 senior, Bernarding earned NCAA All-America status in the 800-meter run during the indoor campaign and swept both the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Atlantic Region and PSAC Athlete of the Year awards following the winter season. Additionally, Bernarding captured his first career league title in the 1-mile run at the PSAC Championships in the indoor campaign.

Bernarding received both USTFCCCA all-region and All-PSAC status a combined four times this year. In the fall, he placed 10th overall at the league championships to help the Vulcans record a top-five team finish for a consecutive year. Bernarding then finished in 17th place at the NCAA Regional Championships in November after previously finishing as high as 40th overall at the event.

A native of Cochranton, Pennsylvania, Bernarding broke a combined four school records during the track & field seasons in 2024. He eclipsed the all-time PSAC indoor record in the 800-meter run after finishing second in the event at the PSAC Championships in February. In the spring, Bernarding placed second in the 1,500-meter run to earn All-PSAC laurels for the fifth time in his track & field career.

Bernarding recently earned his bachelor's degree in psychology with a 3.86 cumulative grade-point average (GPA). He will begin his master's degree in counseling with a concentration in clinical mental health this fall while using his final year of eligibility in cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field during the 2024-25 academic year. A two-time CSC Academic All-District honoree, Bernarding was a PSAC Winter Top 10 selection this season and received USTFCCCA All-Academic accolades in both cross country and track & field.

Note, Bernarding was a candidate on the CSC Academic All-America ballot as starting in the 2023-24 academic year advancement from Academic All-District submission to the Academic All-America ballot is determined by subcommittees of the CSC Academic All-America program.
