SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. (May 4) – The California (PA) women's track & field team qualified three entries for finals and scored in the heptathlon during the second day of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships on Saturday.
Freshmen
Gabriella Fralin and
Rosalyn Perozzi both qualified for the finals in the 800-meter run. Fralin placed third in the preliminaries after rounding the track in 2 minutes, 20.11 seconds and Perozzi posted a time of 2:22.99 to finish eighth overall. The finals of the 800 meters are set for tomorrow, Sunday, May 5, at 2:05 p.m.
Junior
Taylor Timmons also qualified for finals in the 400-meter dash by crossing the finish line in 58.85 seconds to place seventh overall in the preliminaries. Timmons qualified for the finals as an individual for the first time in her career. The finals of the 400 meters are slated for tomorrow at 1:35 p.m.
Classmate
Tatum Hoffman scored in the heptathlon for the first time after previously scoring in the pentathlon three times. She set a personal record in the event with 4,267 points behind a trio of top-five finishes and four personal bests over two days. On Saturday, Hoffman placed second in the long jump with a personal record of 5.26 meters (17-3.25 feet) on her third attempt.
Junior
Jazzy Harper established a personal best during the preliminaries in the 100-meter hurdles, posting a time of 15.25 seconds.
Host Shippensburg climbed to first in the team standings with 47.5 points through seven events. Millersville sits second with 47 points and Slippery Rock ranks third with 36.5 points. The Vulcans rank eighth at the league meet with eight points after scoring in a pair of events.
Cal finishes the PSAC Championships tomorrow in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, with 11 individuals set to compete in six events, starting at 11 a.m.
