MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (April 20) – The Vulcans won a pair of events and six entries reached league-qualifying standards over the weekend while at the Mountaineer Twilight hosted by West Virginia.
PSAC STANDARDS
• Sophomore
Skylar Riedel qualified for the PSAC Championships in the triple jump after setting a personal record of 11.12 meters (36-5.75 feet).
• Seniors
Beyoncé Kelly and
Kat Henderson both reached the qualifying mark in the high jump on Saturday.
• Kelly cleared a height of 1.64 meters (5-4.5 feet) on her initial attempt at the mark and Henderson finished with a height of 1.55 meters (5-1.0 feet).
• Junior
Jing McCann posted a conference-qualifying heave in the hammer throw with a distance of 47.52 meters (155-11.0 feet) on her fifth attempt.
• Freshman
Gabriella Fralin finished with a time of 2:19.84 in the 800-meter run to reach the league standard in the event for the sixth time this year.
• Junior
Iyana Campbell registered a conference-qualifying time in the 400-meter hurdles after crossing the finish line in 1:06.41.
VICTORIES
• Kelly claimed her third victory this spring in the high jump at WVU while being the only entry to clear 1.64 meters.
• McCann won the hammer throw for the second time this season, as she registered the three-best distances in the event on Saturday.
NEXT
• The Vulcans will compete at multiple events next weekend with select entries competing at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia from April 25-27.
• Cal will also compete at the Paul Kaiser Classic hosted by Shippensburg on Saturday, April 27.
