CALIFORNIA (March 7) – The California (PA) trio of senior
Noah Bernarding, senior
Beyoncé Kelly and junior
Logan Pfister will be competing at the 2024 NCAA Championships on March 8-9 at Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Bernarding will participate in the 800-meter run, while Kelly and Pfister will compete in the high jump at the championship meet. The Vulcans are one of only two Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) teams to feature multiple entries at the 2024 NCAA Championships.
A three-time All-American, Kelly will be competing at the NCAA Championships for the fifth time in her career. She is tied for ninth on the national performance list this year with a height of 1.73 meters (5-8.0 feet) set at the PSAC Championships three weeks ago. The high jump features 16 entries and is scheduled to begin on Friday, March 8, at 4:40 p.m. EST. Last winter, Kelly earned Second-Team All-America status in the high jump by finishing 10th overall at the NCAA Championships.
Bernarding will be competing at the NCAA Championships following a record-setting indoor campaign. He is tied for sixth this winter on the national performance list with a time of 1 minute, 49.40 seconds set at the Fastrack Last Chance in New York two weeks ago. Bernarding has broken the indoor school record in both the 800-meter run and 1-mile run this year and his performance in New York also eclipsed the all-time PSAC record in the 800 meters. The preliminaries of the 800 meters at the NCAA Championships feature 17 entries and is set for Friday at 5:40 p.m. EST with the finals being held on Saturday, March 9, at 7:25 p.m. EST.
Pfister will also be debuting at the NCAA Championships this weekend after capturing his fourth career league title in the high jump. He broke the indoor school record and indoor meet record in the high jump at the PSAC Championships with a mark of 2.13 meters (6-11.75 feet), which is tied for No. 10 in the country this season. The high jump features 16 entries and is scheduled to begin on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. EST.
