CALIFORNIA (March 26) – California (PA) junior forward
Allycia Harris was tabbed to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team on Tuesday afternoon.
Harris finished second on the team this season with both 9.8 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. She also ranked third in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) in rebounds, plus was fourth in NCAA Division II this season with 4.5 offensive rebounds per game. Harris was an All-PSAC West Second-Team selection this year after being voted the 2023 PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Year.
A native of Wilkes-Barre, Harris currently boasts 4.00 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) while majoring in health sciences with a concentration in pre-athletic training. She became the first player in program history to be the recipient of the PSAC Champion Scholar Award earlier this month.
To qualify for CSC Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, maintain a cumulative 3.50 GPA and have played in 90 percent of the team's games (previously 50 percent) or start 66 percent of the team's games. Additionally, each institution is capped at four nominees in the sport of women's basketball.
Note, starting in the 2023-24 academic year advancement from Academic All-District submission to the Academic All-America ballot will be determined by subcommittees of the CSC Academic All-America program (formerly CoSIDA). Harris was chosen as a CSC Academic All-America finalist and advances to the national ballot with the CSC Academic All-America Teams being announced next month.
