CALIFORNIA (March 26) – California (PA) sophomore guard
KJ McClurg was placed on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team on Tuesday afternoon.
McClurg also became a consensus All-American on Tuesday after garnering recognition from both the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA). He led the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) in scoring at 22.6 points per game while becoming the third player in school history to total at least 700 points in a single-season. McClurg was also voted the PSAC Athlete of the Year in 2024, marking the program's first recipient of the award in two decades.
A native of West Virginia, McClurg currently holds a 3.59 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) while majoring in finance with a minor in accounting. He was previously named to the NABC Honors Court last summer.
To qualify for CSC Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, maintain a cumulative 3.50 GPA and have played in 90 percent of the team's games (previously 50 percent) or start 66 percent of the team's games. Additionally, each institution is capped at four nominees in the sport of men's basketball.
Note, starting in the 2023-24 academic year advancement from Academic All-District submission to the Academic All-America ballot will be determined by subcommittees of the CSC Academic All-America program (formerly CoSIDA). McClurg was chosen as a CSC Academic All-America finalist and advances to the national ballot with the CSC Academic All-America Teams being announced next month.
