BETHLEHEM, Pa. (Feb. 18) – The Vulcans scored in three events, broke one school record and featured a top-three finisher on Sunday during the opening day of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Indoor Championships held at Rauch Fieldhouse on the campus of Lehigh.

Senior transfer Kat Henderson earned All-PSAC status in the pentathlon by finishing second with 3,385 points over five events. She is the third different Vulcan to receive All-PSAC honors in the event over the last three years. Henderson won the high jump in the pentathlon with a personal-best height of 1.62 meters (5-3.75 feet), plus finished fourth in the shot put and long jump at the league championships.

Junior Jing McCann broke a 13-year old school record in the weight throw on Sunday. She placed sixth overall with a heave of 14.72 meters (48-3.5 feet) on her second attempt at the PSAC Championships. The previous mark of 14.69 meters (48-2.5 feet) was set by Patriece Thompson at Lake Erie in 2011. McCann set the outdoor school mark in the hammer throw last spring while at West Virginia.

The California (PA) women's track & field team sits sixth in the standings with 18 points after six events. Slippery Rock leads the field after the opening day with 59 points after totaling double-digit points in three events. East Stroudsburg sits second in the team standings with 35.5 points and Millersville ranks third with 35 points.

Junior Madeline Curtis finished in fourth place in the 5,000-meter run at the conference meet. She crossed the finish line with a time of 18 minutes, 13.42 seconds while competing in the event for the third time this year.

In addition to Henderson, junior Tatum Hoffman also scored in the pentathlon on Sunday. She totaled 3,072 points to finish seventh in the event. She set a personal record and placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.41 seconds.

Senior Kailee Bunyard qualified for the finals in the 60-meter hurdles by recording the third sub-9.00 second time of her career. She placed third overall in the preliminaries with a time of 8.98 seconds, which is 0.12 second faster than her season-best time. Bunyard previously swept the sprint hurdle titles at the league championships in 2022 by winning both the 60-meter hurdles and 100-meter hurdles.

The Vulcans have individual entries scheduled to compete in five events tomorrow, Monday, Feb. 19, on the final day of the PSAC Championships with events starting at 11:30 a.m.
