Davis garners weekly league accolade

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Dec. 9) – Following a record-setting performance over the weekend, California (PA) junior Marlin Davis was selected the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Track Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Davis broke the indoor school record and reached the NCAA provisional standard in the 60-meter dash on Friday at the Youngstown State Icebreaker. He posted a time of 6.78 seconds in the finals of the event to win the flight by two-hundredths of a second after placing fifth in the preliminaries. Davis also reached the league-qualifying mark in the 200-meter dash by crossing the finish line in 21.77 seconds.

A transfer from Lenoir-Rhyne (N.C.), Davis eclipsed the school mark in the 60 meters set by Julius Rivera at the 2015 PSAC Championships by six-hundredths of a second. He was making his debut with the program over the weekend while competing for the first time since the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Championships. The 5-foot-7 junior earned NCAA All-America status five times (two individual, three relay) while with the Bears and posted a top-five individual finish at the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Championships four times.

Davis is the first sprinter to earn the weekly league honor since the 2019 outdoor campaign.
