LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Nov. 9) – Junior 
Jonathan Thrush earned an individual qualifier for the NCAA National Championships and the California (PA) men's cross country team registered a top-10 finish at the NCAA Regional Championships on Saturday morning.
The Vulcans totaled 238 points behind a pair of top-15 finishes to place eighth in the team standings at the event hosted by Lock Haven. Cal has finished among the top 10 at the regional championships in three-consecutive years, the longest streak since 2011. Davis & Elkins captured the regional title with a total of 40 points behind five runners scoring among the top 15. Shippensburg placed second in the team standings with 45 points and five-time, defending-regional champion Charleston (W.Va.) ranked third with 81 points.
Thrush qualified for the NCAA National Championships for the second time in his career. He placed ninth overall with a time of 30 minutes, 21.8 seconds while competing in a field of nearly 160 runners. Thrush remained among the top 15 throughout the 10-kilometer race and climbed two spots over the final 1,100 kilometers with a split of 2:32.0. The 5-foot-10 junior previously qualified as an individual for the NCAA National Championships in 2022. Thrush has finished among the top 15 in each of his three appearances at the NCAA Regional Championships.
Senior 
Noah Bernarding finished in 12th place on Saturday after posting a time of 30:42.5. He posted a top-20 performance at the regional race for a consecutive year. Bernarding climbed three spots following the sixth marker before running the final 1,100 meters with a time of 2:41.5.
Thrush and Bernarding both earned all-region status, as the honor is awarded to the top-25 finishers at the championships.
Junior 
George Boutiller ranked 73rd overall with a time of 32:49.6, while sophomore 
Jon Berzonsky posted a time of 32:56.0 to finish in 78th place. Sophomore 
Jordan Wiedman rounded out the team scorers after crossing the finish line in 33:00.0 to place 80th overall.
D&E junior Jan Thewes captured the individual victory by over five seconds with a time of 29:51.0.
Thrush will compete in two weeks at the NCAA National Championships on Nov. 23 in Sacramento, California.
