Jonathan Thrush posted a top-100 finish while competing as an individual at the NCAA National Championships on Saturday afternoon.
Thrush crossed the finish line 98th overall with a time of 31 minutes, 20.4 seconds while at the Arcade Creek Cross Country Course. He made his biggest climb in the field between the sixth and eighth markers over the 10-kilometer course. Thrush vaulted 16 places from the 6.2-kilometer to 7.8-kilometer markers with a split of 4:58.1. The 5-foot-10 junior then jumped another 17 places before the 8.8-kilometer marker with a 3:07.1 split.
A native of Berks County, Thrush was making his second career appearance at the NCAA National Championships. He previously finished in 177th place at the event as a redshirt freshman in 2022 while running outside Seattle, Washington.
West Texas A&M senior William Amponsah repeated as the national champion after winning the race by over five seconds with a time of 29:40.8. Colorado School of Mines won its second National Championship in three years, and fourth in a decade, with 63 points – topping Wingate (N.C.) by just three points – on Saturday.
