Thrush tabbed PSAC Athlete of the Week

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Sept. 12) – After winning the individual title over the weekend, California (PA) sophomore Jonathan Thrush was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Athlete of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.

Thrush claimed the second individual title of his career while at the Bethany Bison Invitational on Saturday. He posted a time of 25 minutes, 37.7 seconds over the eight-kilometer race in West Virginia and won the event by nearly 15 seconds ahead of a teammate. Thrush registered an average mile pace of 5:09.3, as the Vulcans finished third in the team standings while competing for the first time this season.

The reigning PSAC Freshman of the Year, Thrush received the weekly league honor for the first time in his cross country career. He became the program's first individual qualifier for the NCAA National Championships since 2014 after he placed sixth overall at the 2022 NCAA Regional Championships.

Thrush earned PSAC Track Athlete of the Week laurels once last year, as he garnered All-PSAC status in both the 5,000-meter run (indoor) and 10,000-meter run (outdoor) in 2023.

Cal returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 16, when it travels to Galloway, New Jersey, to compete at the Osprey Open hosted by Stockton (N.J.).
