Bethany Invitational Results
RALEIGH, N.C. (March 25) – The California (PA) men's track & field team posted nine qualifying marks for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships over the weekend while competing at both the Raleigh Relays and the Bethany Invitational.
Senior
Kristopher Lytle (Columbia, Md./Atholton) reached a pair of league-qualifying standards while setting season-best marks in North Carolina over the weekend. He posted a time of 22.03 seconds in the 200-meter dash, plus crossed the finish line in 10.97 seconds in the 100-meter dash. Lytle now ranks second this spring on the PSAC Performance List in the 200 meters.
Junior
Noah Bernarding (Cochranton, Pa./Cochranton) registered the fastest time in the conference this year in the 800-meter run while at the Raleigh Relays. He finished with a time of 1 minute, 53.40 seconds, which is over 1.5 seconds faster than the rest of the league. Senior
John Franklin, Jr. (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) set a season-best time of 15.25 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles in North Carolina.
In West Virginia, the Vulcans placed fifth in the team standings with 61 points after scoring in 10 individual events, including a pair of victories. West Liberty cruised to the invitational title with 139.5 points, followed by Grove City with 91 points and Saint Vincent with 82 points.
Freshman
Brendin Marks (Chantilly, Va./Chantilly) won the long jump for the second time this year. He registered a distance of 6.90 meters (22-7.25) on his second attempt. Marks is just one of three entries to qualify for the league meet in the long jump this spring.
Senior
Ethan Moyers (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) earned the victory in the javelin throw on Saturday. He posted a distance of 50.50 meters (165-8.0 feet) on his fourth attempt. Freshman
Daniel Munro (Brookhaven, Pa./Penncrest) qualified for the league championships in the pole vault while making his outdoor debut. He cleared a height of 4.25 meters (13-11.25) to finish in third place in the event.
In the shot put, senior
Sam Rothstein (Sykesville, Md./Century) and junior
Bryce Washington (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) both reached the PSAC-qualifying mark. Rothstein placed sixth with a distance of 14.16 meters (46-5.5 feet) and Washington finished eighth with a heave of 13.92 meters (45-8.0 feet). Rothstein also posted a mark of 41.11 meters (134-10.0 feet) in the hammer throw on his third attempt to finish third overall in the event.
Senor
Tyrese Canada (Richmond, Va./Henrico) set a personal record in the finals of the 100 meters in West Virginia. He placed sixth overall with a time of 10.91 seconds, which was over 0.25 seconds faster than his preliminary time on Saturday. Canada also scored in the 200 meters with a time of 23.00 seconds.
Freshman
Aidan McMahon (Johnstown, Pa./Richland) finished second in the 400-meter hurdles at Bethany after rounding the track in 59.03 seconds.
Cal returns to action at the Dave Labor Invitational hosted by Slippery Rock on Saturday, April 1.
