GRANVILLE, Ohio (Feb. 4) – Senior
Kristopher Lytle (Columbia, Md./Atholton) and sophomore
Logan Pfister (Fishertown, Pa./Chestnut Ridge) both claimed individual victories on Saturday afternoon, as the California (PA) men's track & field team finished third at the Bob Shannon Invitational hosted by Denison.
The Vulcans amassed 102 points after scoring in nine events while in Ohio. The host Big Red cruised to the invitational title with 181.5 points followed by Wooster (Ohio) in second place with 106.5 points. Cal was one of three Southwestern Pennsylvania schools to compete at the invitational.
Lytle captured a pair of individual crowns at Denison while reaching the league-qualifying standard in both events. He claimed the victory in the finals of 60-meter dash with a season-best time of 6.97 seconds, which ranks as the fourth-best mark in the conference this year. Lytle also won the 200-meter dash after crossing the finish line in 22.34 seconds.
Pfister earned his first win of the season in the high jump after clearing 2.00 meters (6-6.75 feet) on his second attempt at the height. He is tied for first on the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Performance List in the event this season after posting a mark of 2.01 meters (6-7.0 feet) in December.
Cal scored three entries in the 60-meter hurdles on Saturday and a pair of entries in the event reached the league-qualifying mark. Senior
John Franklin, Jr. (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) placed second in the finals with a time of 8.48 seconds after winning the preliminaries with a time of 8.56 seconds. Freshman
Daniel Munro (Brookhaven, Pa./Penncrest) finished sixth with a time of 8.79 seconds, while newcomer Aidan McMahon placed eighth in 9.08 seconds.
Additionally, Munro improved his PSAC qualifying mark in the pole vault on Saturday. He placed second in the event after clearing 4.55 meters (14-11.0 feet) on his third attempt at the height. Munro now sits third on the league's performance list in the event.

Tyrese Canada (Richmond, Va./Henrico) scored in the 60 meters after posting a personal record of 7.03 seconds in the finals to improve his seeding on the conference's performance list. Freshman
Steven Graves III (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Township) also scored in both the 60 and 200 meters while in Ohio.
Senior
Sam Rothstein (Sykesville, Md./Century) registered a pair of top-five finishes on Saturday. He placed second in the weight throw with a personal record of 14.36 meters (47-1.5 feet) on his sixth attempt. He also finished fourth in the shot put with a distance of 13.66 meters (44-9.75 feet).
The Vulcans featured back-to-back scorers in the 800-meter run while at Denison. Freshman
Bill Folmer (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) placed second in the event after rounding the track in 2 minutes, 3.20 seconds and senior
Mason Jobe (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg) crossed the finish line in 2:03.60 seconds.
Cal returns to action on Feb. 10-11 at the Kenneth Giles Invitational in Virginia Beach, Virginia with the event being hosted by Norfolk State.
