LYNCHBURG, Va. (May 4) – Senior
Divonne Franklin (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) recorded one of the fastest times in the 200-meter dash in NCAA Division II this season while competing at the Liberty Twilight Qualifier on Wednesday.
Franklin posted a blistering wind-aided time of 23.80 seconds to finish second in the 200 meters behind only an entry from Virginia Tech. She now ranks No. 11 on the national performance list this season in the event. Franklin nearly broke the two-decade old all-time Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) record in event, however, the wind was just over the threshold for records.
A native of Philadelphia, Franklin reached the NCAA standard in the 100-meter dash during both the preliminaries and finals on Wednesday. She won the preliminaries with a time of 11.75 seconds before placing second in the finals with a time of 11.82 seconds, which was behind only an entry from host Liberty.

Beyoncé Kelly (Edgewood, Md./Harford Technical) tied for second overall in a field of 15 entries in the high jump after clearing 1.62 meters (5-3.75 feet) on her second attempt at the height. She continues to sit second on the league's performance list this season in the event.
