Ebersole, Franklin set records on second day

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. Franklin eclipsed a pair of championship records that stood for over 35 years during the preliminary races on Friday. She broke her own school record in the 200-meter dash by over one-tenth of a second with a time of 23.92 seconds. Franklin shattered the previous meet record set by Savena Pyett of Millersville in 1984 by 0.10 seconds. The Philadelphia native also broke the championship mark in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.68 seconds. Franklin again eclipsed a championship record held by Pyett since 1984 by six-hundredths of a second. She will compete in the finals of both the 100 and 200 meters tomorrow, Saturday, May 14.

Ebersole reset her own school record in the heptathlon and placed second overall with 4,749 points, which reached the NCAA qualifying standard. She earned All-PSAC honors for the second time this season, as she also finished second in the pentathlon during the indoor campaign. Classmate Kailee Bunyard (Columbia, Md./Atholton) advanced to the finals in the 100-meter hurdles after winning the preliminaries with a personal-best time of 14.68 seconds. She entered the championships seeded fourth in the event after winning the league title in the 60-meter hurdles during the indoor season.

The Vulcans sit No. 10 in the team standings with 12 points after seven events at the league championships. Host Millersville leads the conference meet with 48 points, while Slippery Rock sits second with 46 points and Kutztown and West Chester are tied for third with 27 points.

She placed sixth overall after setting a personal record with 4,169 points over seven events. Frazier posted a distance of 5.40 meters (17-8.75 feet) to finish third in the long jump on Friday.
