Rachel Wilson (Warren, Pa./Warren) sits second overall on the individual leader board after the opening round of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships at the Berkleigh Golf Club on Friday.
The California University of Pennsylvania women's golf team ranks fourth in the standings with a 57-over 345 following the initial day of the event. Two-time, defending-league champion Gannon holds a 20-stroke lead in the team standings after shooting a 35-over 323 on Friday. Millersville ranks second with a 55-over 343 and Mercyhurst sits third with a 56-over 344 at the nine-team championship.
Wilson fired a six-over 78 in the opening round to sit just one stroke back of the individual leader. She carded even-par on the front nine with a pair of birdies in a three-hole span on Friday. Wilson tied for third place at the PSAC Championships while in Hershey, Pennsylvania, last season.
Sophomore
Addi Mann (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) ranks second on the team and is tied for 14th overall with a 15-over 87. She is tied for third in the field with nine pars following the opening round. Senior
Colby Roberts (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) and freshman
Keegan Selinsky (Bolivar, Ohio/Tuscarawas Valley) are tied for 22nd place with an 18-over 90. Roberts registered back-to-back birdies on the front nine and made the turn at five-over, while Selinsky collected a pair of birdies on par-fours. Freshman
Madelyn Myers (Smock, Pa./Uniontown) posted a 19-over 91 in the opening round and sits 26th overall.
Gannon sophomore Sarah White, the 2021 PSAC Athlete of the Year, is the individual leader following 18 holes at the three-day event. She fired a five-over 77 after shooting three birdies, the most by any golfer on Friday.
The Vulcans return to action at the PSAC Championships tomorrow, Saturday, April 23, with their tee times at approximately 11 a.m.
