Women's Golf climbs to fourth in second round

KUTZTOWN, Pa. (April 23) – The Vulcans climbed three places in the team standings during the second round of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships at the Berkleigh Golf Club on Thursday.

The California (PA) women's golf team carded a 50-over 338 in the second round and now sits fourth in the standings at 108-over 684 (346-338), trailing third place by just one stroke. West Chester (312-317) recorded the lowest round on Thursday at 29-over 317 to move into a tie for first place with Gannon entering the final round at 53-over 629. The Golden Knights (308-321), which have won the last six league championships, shot a 33-over 321 in the second round. Bloomsburg remains third in the team standings at 107-over 683 (333-350).

Senior Ari Kaser led the entire field with a four-over 76 in the second round on Thursday to climb into a tie for third overall at 12-over 156 (80-76). She made the turn at one-over after firing back-to-back birdies on the fifth and sixth holes. Kaser, who is tied for third through two rounds with 22 total pars, posted the team's lowest round at the league championships since 2023.

Sophomores Angelique Epondulan and Amanda Woods are tied for 29th place with a 31-over 175. Epondulan (86-89) sits second on the team with 12 pars over two rounds, while Woods (85-90) birdied the par-four, 338-yard 11th on Thursday. Junior Jessica Ricciardi and Isabella Benz are tied for 36th overall at 39-over 183. Ricciardi (98-85) vaulted nine places on the individual leader board with a 13-over 85 in the second round, highlighted by a birdie on the par-five, 513-yard 18th. Benz (95-88) climbed four spots on Thursday, which featured a birdie on the par-three, 117-yard 12th.

Gannon freshman Anastasia Lopez maintained the individual lead after shooting a seven-over 79 in the second round. She holds a three-stroke lead over the field entering the final round at seven-over 151 (72-79).

The PSAC Championships conclude tomorrow, Friday, April 24, with tee times beginning at 9 a.m. The Vulcans begin the third round at approximately 10:30 a.m.
