LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (April 11) – After tossing the program's first no-hitter in eight years, California University of Pennsylvania senior
Dylan Brosky (East Millsboro, Pa./Brownsville) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Pitcher of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Brosky recorded his first career complete-game shutout while posting the no-hitter yesterday in Game 1 of a doubleheader sweep against IUP. He issued two walks and tallied seven strikeouts over 7.0 innings (88 pitches) in a 4-0 victory at Wild Things Park. Brosky allowed back-to-back walks to start the game before limiting the Crimson Hawks to one base runner (catcher's interference) for the remainder of the contest.
A product of neighboring Brownsville, Brosky became the first pitcher since Jack Dennis at Pitt-Johnstown on April 16, 2014 to record a no-hitter. He also posted the first no-hitter at home since Randy Sturgill accomplished the feat on March 25, 2008 against Wheeling.
Brosky ranks among the league leaders in virtually every pitching category this season. He holds a 5-2 record and sits third in the conference with a 1.60 ERA over 45.0 innings pitched. Brosky ranks seventh in NCAA Division II this spring with a 0.82 WHIP (walks and hits per inning pitched). The 6-foot-1 senior paces the PSAC with three complete games in seven starts and ranks sixth in the league with a 5.20 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
A 2021 All-PSAC West honoree, Brosky received the weekly conference honor for the second time this season. He is the first pitcher to earn the league accolade multiple times in a year since 2018.
