WASHINGTON, Pa. (April 18) – The California (PA) baseball team dealt No. 17 Seton Hill its first loss in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play this season with a doubleheader split on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 6-2 decision in Game 1 before earning 6-4 win in Game 2.
NOTES
• The Vulcans (23-15, 12-8) boast a 12-5 mark in home games this spring.
• Seton Hill had won 22-consecutive games in league action dating back to last spring.
• Cal earned its first victory over a nationally-ranked opponent since the 2025 PSAC Tournament.
GAME 1
• Sophomore
Peyton Ford collected three hits and one RBI, while junior
Caleb Collins posted two hits and two runs scored.
• Senior right fielder
Connor Evans added two hits in the contest.
• Seton Hill scored twice in the first before Cal cut the deficit to 2-1 in the bottom of the second an RBI single by Ford.
• The Vulcans tied the score on a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning before the Griffins reclaimed the lead in the fifth by scoring four runs on four hits, one hit by pitch and one error, 6-2.
• Sophomore
Coleman Fletcher (3-1) suffered the loss after allowing six runs (five earned) on six hits and three walks in 6.0 innings (89 pitches).
GAME 2
• The Vulcans forced the Griffins to strand four runners in scoring position over the final two innings.
• Cal took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second on a two-out RBI single by junior designated hitter
Ikon Jones.
• The Vulcans later scored four runs on four singles, one walk and one hit by pitch in the fourth, 5-0.
• Jones reached on a bases-loaded hit by pitch before Collins lined a two-run single through the middle.
• Sophomore first baseman
Cole Fleck later added an RBI single in the inning.
• Seton Hill cut the deficit to 5-2 with a two-run homer in the fifth and added two runs in the sixth.
• Evans belted a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth, extending his on-base streak to 23-consecutive games.
• Freshman
Evan Stranko forced Seton Hill to strand the bases loaded in the top of the seventh.
• Senior
Roman Gill (5-1) earned the victory after allowing two runs (both earned) on five hits in 5.0 innings (69 pitches).
• Stranko registered his second save of the year after yielding two runs (both earned) on five hits and two walks in 2.0 innings.

• Cal returns to non-conference action on Tuesday, April 21, when it hosts Fairmont State for a single nine-inning contest.
