GREENSBURG, Pa. (April 18) – The Vulcans surrendered five homers on Friday afternoon while being swept in a doubleheader at No. 17 Seton Hill in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action, suffering a 6-1 loss in Game 1 and a 14-7 loss in Game 2.
NOTES
• California (22-14, 11-7) was swept in the road doubleheader by Seton Hill for the fourth time in five years.
• The Griffins boast an unblemished 18-0 record in PSAC West play this spring after finishing with 40 overall victories in 2025.
• Seton Hill entered the weekend leading the league with nearly 300 total runs and 39 home runs.
GAME 1
• The Vulcans were limited to four hits and advanced a runner into scoring position in only two innings.
• Seton Hill took a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth behind a three-run homer by catcher Jakob Haynes and a two-run homer by right fielder Nate Dorinsky.
• Cal avoided the shutout in the sixth on a two-out RBI single by senior right fielder
Connor Evans.
• Junior
Beau Bigam (5-3) suffered the loss after allowing six runs (all earned) on nine hits in 6.0 innings (74 pitches).
GAME 2
• The Griffins belted a trio of homers and held a 14-2 lead before the Vulcans scored five runs in the seventh inning.
• Seton Hill scored twice on sacrifice flies in the bottom of the third before Cal loaded the bases in the fourth and scored on a ground-out.
• The Griffins countered with four runs with two outs in the bottom of the inning, 6-1.
• Seton Hill stretched the lead to 14-2 in the sixth after belting three homers, including back-to-back solo homers to start the inning.
• The Vulcans then scored five runs in the top of the seventh on five hits and two errors, 14-7.
• Senior third baseman
Conor Carney posted two hits, one RBI, two runs scored and one walk, while freshman center fielder
Charlie Nigut finished with two hits and two RBI.
• Senior
Nathan Holmes (2-1) was saddled with the loss after surrendering five runs (all earned) on three hits and six walks in 3.2 innings pitched (84 pitches).
