CALIFORNIA (March 2) – The California University of Pennsylvania men's basketball team will face top-seeded and No. 3 IUP in the quarterfinals of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament tonight, Wednesday, March 2, at the Kovalchick Convention & Athletic Complex, starting at 7:00 p.m.
TICKETS
IUP is selling tickets for the PSAC Tournament at the cost of $10 for adults, $5 for students and PSAC students with valid ID are admitted for free.

STORYLINES
• Last Time Out: Cal U captured a 72-55 victory over Slippery Rock during the first round of the of the PSAC Tournament on Monday. Junior
Zyan Collins recorded his third double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
• The Vulcans return to the quarterfinals of the PSAC Tournament for the second-straight playing season, as they also faced the Crimson Hawks during the 2019-20 campaign. .
• The winner of the contest will travel to face the winner of Shippensburg-East Stroudsburg in the semifinals of the league tournament on Saturday, March 5, at the highest remaining from the PSAC East.
PSAC TOURNAMENT
• Cal U is the No. 4 seed in the PSAC Tournament and will travel to top-seeded IUP, while No. 2 Mercyhurst will host No. 3 Pitt-Johnstown in the quarterfinals.
• In the PSAC East, top-seed Millersville will host No. 4 West Chester, while No. 3 Shippensburg will face No. 2 East Stroudsburg on the road.
• The final four teams remaining will travel to the highest remaining seed in the PSAC East for the semifinals and the championship on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
SCOUTING THE VULCANS
• In his fourth year as head coach,
Danny Sancomb enters with a 48-38 record with the program and a 35-30 mark in PSAC play, plus holds a 2-1 record in the conference tournament.
• Cal U features a lineup with four players averaging double-digit points this year with sophomore
Philip Alston leading the team with 21.4 points per game. Senior
Brent Pegram is second on the team with 17.7 points per game, while Collins and senior
Preston Boswell are averaging 14.9 and 11.4 points per game, respectively.
• The Vulcans rank sixth in the conference with 213 three-pointers made, averaging just over 7.0 treys per contest, and are led by Pegram who has connected on 60 shots from behind the arc.
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON HAWKS
• In his 15th season as head coach, Joe Lombardi enters with a 359-104 overall record with a 224-56 mark in conference play. He has led the program to 10 NCAA Tournament appearances, five PSAC Tournament titles and two Atlantic Region Championships.
• The Crimson Hawks pace the PSAC and rank seventh in the country in field-goal percentage defense, as they are holding opponents to a .391 clip, while limiting teams to just 63.6 points per game, which is No. 12 in NCAA Division II.
• IUP features one of the top guards in the country in redshirt junior Armoni Foster, who is only one of four players in NCAA Division II to record a pair triple-doubles this season. He ranks second in the conference and fourth in the country with 6.8 assists per game.
SERIES
• IUP has won the last 16 meetings in the series with the last victory by the Vulcans being a 59-56 win at the KCAC during the 2013-14 campaign.
• The two sides will be meeting in the PSAC Quarterfinals for the second-consecutive playing season after IUP claimed an 80-63 win during the 2019-20 campaign.
• The Vulcans will be looking for their first win over the Crimson Hawks in the conference tournament since the 1995-96 season when they advanced to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament.
