GRANVILLE, Ohio (Feb. 5) – The California University of Pennsylvania women's track & field team won seven events and scored in 10 events on Saturday while claiming the title at the Bob Shannon Invitational hosted by Dension.
The Vulcans totaled 125 points after 23 entries scored at the invitational in Ohio. Robert Morris placed second with 109.5 points, while the host Big Red ranked third with 82 points. The field was comprised of seven teams, including five programs from Ohio.
Senior
Divonne Franklin (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) reached the NCAA provisional standard in the 60-meter dash while winning the event with a time of 7.58 seconds in the finals. She posted the top time in preliminaries of the event on Saturday, finishing with a time of 7.71 seconds. Franklin also captured the win in the 200-meter dash by over 1.6 seconds after crossing the finish line in 25.58 seconds.
Sophomore
Quintasia Streeter (Brentwood, Pa./Brentwood) won the triple jump and headlined a trio of entries that scored in the event while in Ohio. She earned the victory with a mark of 10.88 meters (35-8.5 feet) on her second attempt. Freshman
Jazzy Harper (Media, Pa./Strath Haven) placed fifth in the event with a leap of 10.28 meters (33-8.75 feet) on her first attempt, while senior
Kayla Latoza (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock) finished seventh with a distance of 9.78 meters (32-1.0 feet).
Cal U featured a group of four entries that scored in both the 400-meter dash and 800-meter run on Saturday, including the individual winner. Junior
Malia Anderson (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Salem) posted the victory in the 800 meters by over 1.5 seconds with a time of 2 minutes, 25.96 seconds. Classmate
Sydney Urbine (Centerville, Pa./Beth-Center) finished fourth in the event after rounding the track in 2:30.55. Junior
Tatyana Young (Marion, Ohio/River Valley) earned the win in the 400 meters with a time of 1:01.44, which was nearly seven-tenths of a second faster than the field. Freshman
Taylor Timmons (Butler, Pa./Butler) ranked third while in Ohio with a time of 1:03.21 in the event.
Junior
Kailee Bunyard (Columbia, Md./Atholton) reached the conference standard while recording the fastest time in the 60-meter hurdles in both the preliminaries and finals. She posted a time of 9.28 seconds in the preliminaries before winning the finals with a time of 9.34 seconds.
In the high jump, junior
Beyoncé Kelly (Edgewood, Md/Harford Technical) tied for first place and scored six points in the event after clearing 1.60 meters (5-3.0 feet) on her third attempt.
The 4x400-meter relay of Young, Anderson, sophomore
Hannah Rekito (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) and Urbine won the event by almost seven-tenths of a second with a time of 4:15.95.
Junior
Anna Ebersole (Pottstown, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) qualified for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships and set a personal best in the shout put with a distance of 11.53 meters (37-10.0 feet).
Cal U returns to action on Friday, Feb. 11, when it competes at the Fastrack National Invitational in Staten Island, New York.
