UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. (Dec. 2) – California (PA) redshirt freshman Jonathan Thrush (Temple, Pa./Muhlenberg) competed as an individual at the 2022 NCAA National Championships on Friday afternoon held at Chambers Creek Regional Park, which is 40 miles south of Seattle.

In his first appearance at a national race, Thrush posted a time of 32 minutes, 10.6 seconds over the 10-kilometer course to finish 177th overall in a field of over 250 entries. He posted an average split of 3:12.5 over the 11 markers around the race.

A 5-foot-10 redshirt freshman, Thrush was among the top 100 in the field through the initial four markers that covered 3,800 kilometers. He sat 45th overall through the opening 1,200 kilometers on Friday with a time of 3:44.0.

Colorado School of Mines cruised to its third national title in five years with 43 points behind five top-20 runners. Wingate (N.C.) placed second in the team standings with 177 points and Colorado Christian ranked third with 191 points, while defending-National Champion Grand Valley State finished fourth with 209 points on Friday.

Junior Dillon Powell of Colorado School of Mines claimed the individual crown by nearly 20 seconds after crossing the finish line in 29:28.0.
