BIG RAPIDS, Mich. (Sept. 27) – The Vulcans closed play in Michigan on Monday by placing No. 10 in the team standings at the Bulldog Fall Invitational hosted by Ferris State.
The California University of Pennsylvania women's golf team posted a 92-over 668 (330-338) while playing the par-72 Katke Golf Course. Grand Valley State earned the tournament title by 14 strokes with a 22-over 598 (300-298) after firing the lowest score in each round. Findlay placed second in the team standings with a 36-over 612 (301-311) and Wayne State (Mich.) ranked third with a 50-over 626 (316-310).
Sophomore
Addi Mann (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) paced the team and tied for 27th overall on the individual leader board with an 18-over 162 (79-83). She matched her career low score with a seven-over 79 in the opening round after collecting a pair of birdies on the back nine. Mann finished the event with 15 pars, including five straight on the back nine on Monday.
Senior
Rachel Wilson (Warren, Pa./Warren) shot a 20-over 164 (80-84) to tie for 33rd place at the event. She played the back nine at four-over in each round and led the team with a combined 19 pars. Freshman
Madelyn Myers (Smock, Pa./Uniontown) tied for 41st overall after carding a 23-over 167 (88-79). She played the final round at seven-over 79 behind 10 pars and a birdie on the par-three fourth.
Freshman
Keegan Selinsky (Bolivar, Ohio/Tuscarawas Valley) posted a 34-over 178 (86-92) to tie for 53rd place and senior
Jaclyn Smith (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) finished 68th overall with a 42-over 186 (85-101) to round out the team players in Michigan.
As an individual, senior
Colby Roberts (Libertyville, Ill//Libertyville) shot a 45-over 189 (93-96) to finish in 71st place.
Sophomore Kay Zubkus of Grand Valley State won the individual title by one stroke after firing a four-over 148 (73-75) behind 22 pars and six birdies.
The Vulcans are idle for a week before returning to action in Ohio at the Eagle Invitational hosted by Ashland on Oct. 9-10.
