Vulcans finish eighth at Ohio Dominican

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Sept. 19) – The Vulcans placed eighth in the team standings on Sunday while competing at the Champions of Women's Golf Classic hosted by Ohio Dominican at the Champions Golf Course.

The California University of Pennsylvania women's golf team shot a 113-over 673 (334-339) while playing in a field of 10 teams, primarily from Ohio and Michigan. Tiffin cruised to the invitational title after carding the lowest score in each round and finished with a 48-over 608 (304-304). Davenport (Mich.) placed second in the team standings with a 73-over 633 (307-326) and Saginaw Valley State (Mich.) finished third with an 83-over 643 (323-320).

Sophomore Addi Mann (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) led the team and tied for 17th overall on the individual leader board with a 24-over 164 (80-84). She tied for the team lead with 15 pars over the two rounds and fired a birdie on the par-five, 500-yard seventh on Saturday. Mann was also among the leaders in the field by playing the 24 pars at a combined 15-over while in Ohio.

Senior Rachel Wilson (Warren, Pa./Warren) shot a 30-over 170 (86-84) to tie for 32nd place at the event. She also tallied a combined 15 pars, including eight on the opening 11 holes to start play on Saturday. Freshman Keegan Selinsky (Bolivar, Ohio/Tuscarawas Valley) finished with a 32-over 172 (85-87) and tied for 37th overall. She recorded a pair of birdies on par fours while playing in her native state.

Senior Jaclyn Smith (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) tied for 40th place after carding a 33-over 173 (83-90), while freshman Madelyn Myers (Smock, Pa./Uniontown) posted a 36-over 176 (92-84) and tied for 47th overall to round out the team scorers.

Davenport junior Natalie Samdal led the event wire-to-wire and earned medalist honors by four strokes with a four-over 144 (71-73). She led the field with 25 pars and also registered four birdies, including three on par fours in the final round.

The Vulcans are set to return to the links next weekend by playing in a pair of events in Michigan from Sept. 25-27.
