CALIFORNIA (March 4) – The California University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team travels to face top-seeded IUP in the quarterfinals of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament this evening, Wednesday, March 4, at the Kovalchick Convention & Athletic Center, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
TICKETS
IUP is selling tickets for the PSAC Tournament at the cost of $10 for adults, $5 for students and PSAC students with valid ID are admitted for free.

STORYLINES
• Last Time Out: Cal U opened play in the PSAC Tournament on Monday with a 67-53 victory against fifth-seeded Pitt-Johnstown in the quarterfinals.
• The Vulcans have advanced to at least the semifinals of the league tournament four times in the last five years.
• The winner of the contest will face the winner of East Stroudsburg-Bloomsburg in the semifinals of the PSAC Tournament on Saturday, March 7, at the highest remaining seed from the PSAC West.
PSAC TOURNAMENT
• Cal U is the No. 4 seed in the PSAC Tournament and will travel to No. 1 IUP, while No. 2 Gannon will host No. 3 Edinboro in the quarterfinals.
• In the Eastern Division, No. 1 Shippensburg hosts No. 4 Shepherd and No. 2 East Stroudsburg will face No. 6 Bloomsburg, which upset No. 3 Kutztown earlier this week.
• The final four teams remaining will travel to the highest remaining seed in the PSAC West for the semifinals and the championship on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
AROUND THE REGION
• The final NCAA Atlantic regional rankings before the NCAA Tournament will be announced later this afternoon.
• The winners of both the PSAC Tournament and MEC Tournament will receive an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament, while the top-five remaining teams in the final regional rankings receive at-large bids.
• Fayetteville State captured an automatic bid after winning the CIAA Tournament over the weekend. The Broncos secured their first conference title since 2010 despite not being featured in the Atlantic regional rankings all season.
SCOUTING THE VULCANS
• In her ninth year as head coach,
Jess Strom enters with a 212-60 record with the program and is tied for the all-time school record for wins. Strom guided the Vulcans to back-to-back PSAC Championships in 2015 and 2016.
• Sophomore
Shauna Harrison has scored a combined 36 points over the last two games after going a combined 9-of-19 from beyond the arc.
• The Vulcans have eclipsed 200 three-pointers made this season for the first time in recent program history after finishing ninth in the PSAC last year in the category.
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON HAWKS
• In his seventh year as head coach, Tom McConnell has posted a 174-40 record while at IUP. He has led the Crimson Hawks to back-to-back Atlantic Regional Championships and a pair of PSAC Tournament titles.
• IUP boasts two of the top three-point shooters in the PSAC this year in senior Natalie Myers and junior Courtney Alexander. Myers paces the league with a .445 three-point percentage and the duo has converted nearly 125 three-pointers this season.
• The Crimson Hawks pace the league in scoring defense this season with 52.9 points per game while holding opponents to a conference-low .322 field-goal percentage.
SERIES
• Cal U and IUP split the regular-season series this year with the home team winning each game and the teams have split the last 10 overall meetings.
• The Vulcans and Crimson Hawks are meeting in the post-season for the fifth-straight year after playing in the 2019 NCAA Atlantic Regional Championship.
• Cal U and IUP last met in the league tournament when the Crimson Hawks posted an 84-79 victory in the 2017 PSAC Championship while playing at Shippensburg.
