CALIFORNIA (March 4) – The California University of Pennsylvania men's basketball team will face top-seeded IUP in the quarterfinals of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament tonight, Wednesday, March 4, at the Kovalchick Convention & Athletic Complex, starting at 7:30 p.m.
 
TICKETS
IUP is selling tickets for the PSAC Tournament at the cost of $10 for adults, $5 for students and PSAC students with valid ID are admitted for free.

STORYLINES
• Last Time Out: Cal U secured a 74-58 victory versus Gannon on Monday during the first round of the PSAC Tournament on Monday.
• The Vulcans return to the quarterfinals of the PSAC Tournament for the first time since the 2011-12 campaign after making their first appearance in the post-season in five years.
• The winner of the contest will travel to face the winner of West Chester-East Stroudsburg in the semifinals of the league tournament on Saturday, March 7, at the highest remaining from the PSAC East.

PSAC TOURNAMENT
• Cal U is the No. 4 seed in the PSAC Tournament and will travel to top-seeded IUP, while No. 2 Mercyhurst will host No. 3 Pitt-Johnstown in the quarterfinals.
• In the PSAC East, top-seed Shippensburg will host No. 4 Millersville, while No. 3 West Chester will face No. 2 East Stroudsburg on the road.
• The final four teams remaining will travel to the highest remaining seed in the PSAC East for the semifinals and the championship on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.  

LONG TIME COMING
• The Vulcans captured their first victory in the conference tournament since winning the league title in 2008 after defeating the Golden Knights by a 74-58 margin on Monday night.
• Cal U featured four players in double-figures, led by sophomore Zyan Collins with a game-high 20 points on 7-of-13 attempts, while adding six rebounds, four assists and two steals in the win.
• The contest on Monday also marked the first game and victory in the Convocation Center in program history.

SCOUTING THE VULCANS
• In his 13th season as a head coach, Danny Sancomb enters with a 243-144 (.643) record in his career with a 27-29 overall mark in two season at Cal U.
• Cal U ranks fifth in the Atlantic Region with 296 three-pointers made, led by junior Brent Pegram and freshman Luke House, who have each converted over 70 shots from beyond the arc.
• The Vulcans bolster a lineup with four players averaging double-digit points this season with Pegram pacing the team in scoring 14 times this season behind 12 20-points games.

SCOUTING THE CRIMSON HAWKS
• In his 14th season as head coach, Joe Lombardi enters at 330-102 (.764) overall record with nine NCAA Tournament appearances, four PSAC Tournament titles and two Atlantic Region Championships at IUP.
• The Crimson Hawks have been ranked No. 1 in the NCAA regional rankings for the previous two weeks with the last in-season rankings coming out this afternoon before the NCAA Selection Show on Sunday, March 8.
• IUP features one of the best backcourts in the region in senior Malik Miller and redshirt sophomore Armoni Foster. The duo has combined for 28 20-point performances this season with Foster ranking fifth in the PSAC with 19.1 points per game.

SERIES
• The two sides will be meeting in the PSAC Tournament for the first time since the 2011-12 season when the Crimson Hawks claimed a 74-70 win in the quarterfinals.
• IUP has won the last 13 meetings in the series with the Vulcans last victory coming by a 59-56 margin in the KCAC during the 2013-14 campaign.
• The Vulcans will be looking for their first win over IUP in the conference tournament since the 1995-96 season when they advanced the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament.
