IUP StatisticsCALIFORNIA (March 6) — The California University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team will host IUP in the championship of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament in Hamer Hall on Sunday, March 6, at 3 p.m.
TICKETSAll students with a valid student ID from a PSAC institution will be admitted for FREE. Cost of tickets will be $10 for adults and $5 for students and can be purchased the day of the game.

STORYLINES- Last time out: Cal U rolled to a 78-62 victory over Shippensburg on Saturday in the semifinals of the PSAC Tournament after leading by as many as 21 points.
- The Vulcans have won 12-straight games entering today's contest and are now hold a 20-8 mark in the league tournament dating back to the 2006-07 season.
- Cal U is making its 14th appearance in the finals of the PSAC Tournament with a 5-8 record. The Vulcans look to tie Shippensburg with the most conference titles.
ABOUT THE VULCANS- In her fifth season as head coach,
Jess Strom enters with a 109-34 career record, including a 75-25 mark in PSAC play and an 8-1 record in the NCAA Tournament.

Miki Glenn leads the league in scoring with 19.1 points per game, while sophomore
Seairra Barrett averages 14.2 points and 10.0 rebounds per game.

Shatara Parsons tallied 18 points on 9-of-14 shooting in yesterday's victory and is one of three players averaging double-digit points per game.
ABOUT THE CRIMSON HAWKS- In his third year at IUP,
Tom McConnell boasts a 64-21 overall record with a 44-16 mark in conference play with three-consecutive 20-win seasons.
- Redshirt senior
Leslie Stapleton ranks among league leaders averaging 16.6 points per game and also leads the nation with a .941 free-throw percentage.
- The Crimson Hawks recorded a 77-64 victory over West Chester in the semifinals of the PSAC Tournament to advance to the finals for the first time since 2009.
ABOUT THE SERIES- Cal U has won six of the last 10 meetings dating back to the 2011-12 season.
- The teams met in the conference finals for three-straight years from 2007-09 with IUP claiming the league title each time.
- The teams split the series this season and each team averaged under 65 points.

Seairra Barrett and head coach
Jess Strom each received recognition from the PSAC this week. Glenn earned PSAC West Athlete of the Year honors and became the third player in program history to be named Athlete of the Year and Freshman of the Year in a career. Barrett was named the PSAC West Defensive Player of the Year and earned All-PSAC West Second-Team laurels, while Strom garnered the PSAC West Coach of the Year award for a consecutive season and becomes the second coach in program history to earn the accolade multiple times.
POST-SEASON PERFORMERGlenn tallied 25 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the floor and six-of-six from the free-throw line in yesterday's victory in the semifinal. She also posted six rebounds, seven assists and four steals. She is now averaging 21.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 2.8 steals over her last five games in the league tournament dating back to last season, which includes two games with at least 25 points and two games with seven assists.
CHARITY STRIPERSIUP senior Leslie Stapleton and Glenn have been two of the most consistent free-throw shooters in the country this season. Stapleton currently leads NCAA Division II with a .941 free-throw percentage and has missed only five foul shots this year. Glenn ranks ninth in the nation with a .896 clip and is the only player in program history to record at least 150 free-throws in multiple seasons.
LONG-RANGE COMPARISONCal U ranks last in the conference with a .268 three-point field goal percentage and average only 3.5 treys per game, which is 17th in an 18-team league. The Vulcans have made at least five three-pointers in only six games this season. Meanwhile, IUP boasts the top three-point mark in the league with a .385 shooting percentage and has made under five treys on only four occasions during the year.
THE RIVALRY CONTINUESThe Vulcans and the Crimson Hawks will play for the 78th time with Cal U leading the all-time series 42-35. In three previous meetings in the PSAC Championship, IUP has won each game with both teams averaging under 64.0 points per game. The Crimson Hawks are looking to win their first league title since 2009, which was against Cal U.
STELLAR SOPHOMORESBarrett and fellow sophomore
Shatara Parsons combined for 36 points and 10 rebounds in the victory yesterday against Shippensburg in the semifinals. Parsons was 9-of-14 from the field and scored 10 points in the first quarter, while Barrett tallied 18 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the floor. The pair has combined for at least 30 points in 11 games this season and combined for at least 30 rebounds four times.

Kelly Mazzante were teammates at Penn State from 2001-04. Strom was a four-year starter with the Lady Lions and helped the program earn a pair of regular-season Big Ten titles. She is one of four players at Penn State to total 1,000 points and 750 assists in a career. Mazzante holds the all-time Big Ten record with 2,919 points and was a two-time AP First-Team All-American. She was selected 18th overall in the WNBA Draft and won a pair of WNBA championships.
FIRST TICKET PUNCHEDVirginia Union earned its first CIAA Championship since 1982 last weekend with a 70-66 victory over Shaw. With the win, the Panthers received the automatic qualifier from the CIAA into the NCAA Tournament. The MEC Championship is set between West Liberty and Wheeling Jesuit and the winner will earn an automatic qualifier, but both teams have appeared in each of the Atlantic regional rankings the past three weeks.
