CALIFORNIA (March 4) — The California University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team will host Shippensburg in the semifinals of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament in Hamer Hall on Saturday, March 5, at 3:30 p.m.

TICKETS
All students with a valid student ID from a PSAC institution will be admitted for FREE. Cost of tickets will be $10 for adults and $5 for students and can be purchased the day of the game.

STORYLINES
- Last time out: Cal U rallied to post a 75-67 victory over Edinboro on Tuesday in the quarterfinals of the PSAC Tournament after trailing by 10 points in the third.
- The Vulcans enter the contest having won 11-consecutive games and are averaging 77.0 points per game, including eight games scoring at least 75 points.
- Cal U is making its fourth appearance in the semifinal of the league tournament since the 2009-10 season and have won each previous time.
 
ABOUT THE VULCANS
- In her fifth season as head coach, Jess Strom enters with a 108-34 career record, including a 75-25 mark in PSAC play and an 8-1 record in the NCAA Tournament.
- Junior Miki Glenn leads the league in scoring with 18.9 points per game, while sophomore Seairra Barrett averages 14.1 points and 10.1 rebounds per game.
- Junior Precious Martin recorded a team-high 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the floor on Tuesday in the quarterfinal round against Edinboro.
 
ABOUT THE RAIDERS
- In her 17th year at Shippensburg, Kristy Trn is the winningest coach in program history with a 298-184 career mark, including five 20-win seasons.
- Junior Morgan Griffith ranks third in the league with 17.1 points and 11.4 rebounds per game en route to being named PSAC East Athlete of the Year.
- The Raiders earned a 58-56 victory to outlast Millersville in the quarterfinals of the PSAC Tournament to advance to the semifinals for the first time since 2004.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
- Cal U has won eight of the last 10 meetings dating back to the 2007-08 season.
- The two teams have not met in the PSAC Tournament since 2007 (quarterfinals).
- The Vulcans have earned victories in three of the five meetings in the league tournament, including an 87-54 win in the 2004 championship game.

BEST IN THE WEST
Junior Miki Glenn, sophomore Seairra Barrett and head coach Jess Strom each received recognition from the PSAC this week. Glenn earned PSAC West Athlete of the Year honors and became the third player in program history to be named Athlete of the Year and Freshman of the Year in a career. Barrett was named the PSAC West Defensive Player of the Year and earned All-PSAC West Second-Team laurels, while Strom garnered the PSAC West Coach of the Year award for a consecutive season and becomes the second coach in program history to earn the accolade multiple times.
 
ETCHING HER NAME
Glenn posted 18 points, seven assists and three steals while playing all 40 minutes against Edinboro in Tuesday's victory to surpass 500 points this season. With her 511 points this year, Glenn is the fourth player in program history to record multiple seasons of at least 500 points. She is also the fifth player at Cal U to register at least 1,300 points, 350 assists and 200 steals in a career.
 
SEMIFINAL SUCCESS
With its quarterfinal win over Edinboro, Cal U advanced to the semifinals of the PSAC Tournament for the second-straight year. In 13 semifinal appearances, the Vulcans boast a 13-0 record with an average margin of victory of 14.5 points per game and all but three semifinal wins have been by double-digits. Cal U advanced to the semifinals 11-consecutive seasons from 2001-2011, playing Shippensburg in both the 2001 and 2004 PSAC Championship.
 
OLD STOMPING GROUNDS
Since the opening of the Convocation Center in 2012, the Vulcans have played a total of 10 games in their old facility - Hamer Hall. In those games, Cal U holds a 9-1 overall record, including a 5-0 mark in the post-season. Four of those games came last season en route to capturing the PSAC and Atlantic Region Championships.
 
DOMINATE THE EAST
Over the past five seasons, the Vulcans have compiled a 28-5 record against opponents from the PSAC East, which includes all regular-season and post-season games. The mark also includes an 18-5 record in home games and a 2-0 mark in PSAC Tournament games, which both came last season. Cal U is 4-1 against the PSAC East this year.
 
PRECIOUS MOMENTS
Junior Precious Martin totaled 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field in the victory on Tuesday. Martin also tallied six rebounds, four assists and four steals against the Fighting Scots. She is averaging 9.9 points and 5.3 rebounds per game this season. The first-year starter has tallied at least 15 points on five occasions this year, including a career-high 25 points against Seton Hill.
 
AROUND THE STATE
All four of the higher seeds won in quarterfinals of the PSAC Tournament on Tuesday. As the highest remaining seed from the PSAC West, Cal U will host the semifinals and finals on March 5-6. The winner of the league tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament with the entire field being revealed late Sunday night via a webstream on NCAA.com.
 
FIRST TICKET PUNCHED
Virginia Union earned its first CIAA Championship since 1982 last weekend with a 70-66 victory over Shaw. With the win, the Panthers received the automatic qualifier from the CIAA into the NCAA Tournament. Virginia Union has been the top team in the NCAA Atlantic regional rankings in each of the three editions this year.
