CALIFORNIA (Oct. 6) – The California University of Pennsylvania tennis team recently participated in the fifth-annual "Tennis Pairs for Free Wheelchairs" event. This year, over 30 members of the local community participated in the event, which generated over $5,000. The fundraised money will help pay for a wheelchair for the impoverished and underprivileged.
The Vulcans assisted with registration and warm-ups, partnering with the participants, supported and and coached the participants, and also assisted with post-event clean up.
"Giving back always involves a certain amount of giving up and I am proud of all our players for giving up their Sunday afternoon to support this wonderful cause," said head coach
Pablo Montana. "We had a blast engaging with the members of the community and we will definitely be back next year."
Each year, the Cal U tennis team strives to make an impact in the surrounding communities by volunteering at various senior centers, food banks and local charity events.
