TEMPE, Ariz. (July 14) – The California (PA) tennis program earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team laurels and eight players received ITA Scholar-Athletes on Tuesday.
To earn ITA All-Academic Team status, a program must maintain a cumulative team grade-point average (GPA) of 3.20 or above. To receive ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, student-athletes must maintain a 3.50 cumulative GPA or higher.
The Vulcans have collected team academic honors from the ITA in three-consecutive seasons. Student-athletes
Gianna Bloom,
Leandra Guldimann,
Izabelle Heacox,
Garance Laforet,
Diletta Maria Mungo,
Peyton Reese,
Fernanda Sandoval Martinez and
Lilli Schreiber each earned the academic status on Tuesday.
The trio of Guldimann, Mungo and Schreiber captured the honor for the third-straight year, while Bloom, Heacox, Laforet and Reese earned the distinction for the second time in their careers.
Last week, the tennis program was recognized by California Athletics for boasting the highest cumulative GPA among the women's sports at 3.810 which also ranked as the highest among the 19 sponsored sports in the department.
