Emma Mahady posted game-highs of 19 points and seven rebounds, as the Vulcans defeated Seton Hill 74-59 in the first round of the PSAC Tournament.
• The Griffins trailed 51-48 with 10:27 remaining in the game before going nearly nine minutes without a field goal. The Vulcans went on a 14-4 run during the stretch.
• Cal U forced Seton Hill into 21 turnovers and finished with 13 steals in the win.
CAL U STORYLINES
• The Vulcans remained in seventh place in the latest NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Rankings.
• Cal U leads the PSAC and ranks fifth in the nation with a 7.38 turnover margin. Cal U also ranks second in the PSAC and ninth in the country with 11.73 steals per game.
• Junior
Emma Mahady scored a combined 42 points in the last two games after totaling 25 points in the previous three games.
• The Vulcans rank last in the PSAC in three-point field-goal defense, allowing their opponents to make 35.9 percent (111-of-309) while shooting the second-lowest attempts in the league.
• Senior guard
Kate Seebohm is averaging 10.8 points. and 4.3 assists while playing 25.5 minutes in the last four games. Prior to that span, she averaged 2.0 points and 1.4 assists and played just 14.7 minutes per game.
• Cal U did not have a player finish the regular season in the top-10 of scoring in the PSAC for the first time since 2001. Mahady leads the team and ranks 24th in the league in scoring at 12.8 points per game.
• Guard
Miki Glenn, a four-time PSAC-West Freshman of the Week, ranks fourth among league freshmen in scoring and second in the PSAC West.
• The Vulcans are searching for their first conference crown since 2006. Cal U has made it to the PSAC Championship five times in the last seven years, losing each time.
THE OPPONENT
• Gannon moved up to No. 1 in the latest Atlantic Regional Rankings and moved to No. 4 in the latest USA Today Sports Top 25 Coaches' poll.
• The Lady Knights are on a three-game winning streak and have won eight of their last nine contests. Edinboro is the only team to post a victory over Gannon this year, sweeping the regular-season series and snapping the Lady Knights' 26-game winning streak at home.
• Gannon leads the PSAC and ranks No. 10 in the country in scoring defense at 58.6 points per game. The Lady Knights limited the Vulcans to a season-low 57 points on Jan. 29.
• The Lady Knights rank ninth in the county in scoring margin, out-scoring their opponents by 17.1 points per game. Of the team's 25 victories this season, nine were by less than 10 points and only two were by a possession or fewer.
• Junior Nettie Blake leads Gannon in both scoring and rebounding this season and has scored in double-figures in all but four contests. Blake has scored 40 points on 11-of-15 shooting in two games against Cal U this year.
SERIES HISTORY
• Gannon has won six of the last seven meetings against Cal U, including all five at the Hammermill Center. The Vulcans last won on the road against the Lady Knights on Jan. 22, 2011.
• The Lady Knights have won each of the previous two meetings against the Vulcans in the league tournament, including a 77-50 victory last year.
• In the meeting on Jan. 25, Cal U held a 43-35 edge on the glass with 24 offensive rebounds.
