This game marks the fourth time that these two teams have met in the NCAA Tournament since 2002 with the Vulcans holding the 2-1 edge over the Pioneers.
These two teams last met on Nov. 17 with the Cal U earning a 102-55 victory over Glenville State at the Convocation Center. Five Vulcans scored in double figures led by 24 points on seven-of-nine shooting by
Stephanie Michael (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown). Junior transfer
Ashley Hines (Newark, N.J./Trenton Central) scored 20 points off the bench and sophomore
Irina Kukolj (Harrisonburg, Va./Harrisonburg) recorded her first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in the victory. Michael paced the Cal U attack with a career-high eight assists and junior
Elena Antonenko (Moscow, Russia/State University of Physical Education) added 17 points, five rebounds and three blocks in just 16 minutes. Junior Kenyona Simmons led Glenville State with nine points and eight rebounds in the loss. The 102 points were the most the Vulcans have scored in nearly three years while holding the Pioneers to their lowest point total since 2009.

The Vulcans advance to the second round after upsetting second-seeded Edinboro 80-72 on Friday. Michael led all scorers with 25 points and five three pointers. Hines scored nine points and grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds, while sophomore
Emma Mahady (Albury, Australia/Xavier) scored 13 points and recorded seven boards. Junior
Ryah Gadson (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport) scored 14 points off the bench and classmate
Kate Seebohm (Millicent, Australia/Millicent) had four points, three rebounds and five assists in the victory. The Vulcans out-rebounded the Fighting Scots 37-31 and doubled Edinboro's bench production 26-13. The victory marked the first time Cal U has defeated Edinboro in the last nine meetings.
Michael leads the Vulcans with a career-high 14.0 points per game. An All-PSAC West First-Team selection, she has scored in double digits 21 times and has recorded at least 20 points in seven games. The 5-7 guard has led the team in scoring 11 times and is averaging 11.4 points per game in five career NCAA Tournament games.
Hines is the leading rebounder for Cal U with 7.4 rebounds per game. Playing predominantly off the bench, she has led the team in rebounding 15 times and ranks third on the team in scoring at 9.4 points per game.
Seebohm leads the team and ranks among the national leaders with 5.2 assists per game. The Australia native has led the team in assists in all but two games this season and her 2.2 steals per game leads the team.
With the upset of Edinboro on Friday afternoon, Cal U collected its first NCAA Tournament victory under second-year head coach
Jess Strom. The Vulcans are now 8-3 in first round games dating back to 1994.
Cal U has fallen in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in each of its last two appearances (2010, 2011).

The West Virginia State Athletic Conference (WVIAC) regular-season champion, Glenville State advances to the second round of the NCAA Tournament after defeating third-seeded Shaw 111-86 early Friday afternoon. Five Pioneers scored in double digits led by a game-high 24 points by junior Kenyell Goodson. Guard Ginny Mills, a Daktronics first-team all-region selection, scored 20 points and freshman Briuana Nix and junior Kenyona Simmons both had 12 points in the win. The Pioneers converted 30 Shaw turnovers into 36 points.
Glenville State enters Saturday's game as the top scoring team in the country at 95.3 points per game led by 18.3 points per game from Mills. She leads the country with 3.83 three-point field-goals per game and ranks among the national leaders in both steals (2.7 per game) and three-point field-goal percentage (.385). In the game against the Vulcans in November, the junior was held to just eight points on 3-of-19 shooting.
Classmate Jessica Parson leads the Pioneers and ranks among the national leaders with a 2.34 assist-to-turnover ratio and ranks second on the team with 3.8 assists per game. Parson had five assists and two turnovers in the loss to Cal U earlier this season.
Simmons and senior Latoya Hambrick lead Glenville State with 6.2 rebounds per game and junior Jelena Elez ranks first on the team and among the national leaders with 5.0 assists per game.
The Pioneers last advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2011 where they fell to Johnson C. Smith, 69-74, in the first round.
The winner of this game will advance to the regional championship on Monday, March 18, at 7 p.m.
