CALIFORNIA (Nov. 23) – The California University of Pennsylvania volleyball team will take on Pitt-Johnstown in the championship match of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m.
Tickets: All students from PSAC institutions will be admitted free with a valid student ID. The PSAC mandates the prices for adults at $7 and for students of non-PSAC institutions at $2.

PSAC Playoffs: Cal U is the No. 2 seed in the PSAC West and Pitt-Johnstown is the No. 2 seed from the PSAC East. The Vulcans advanced to the finals behind a 3-1 win over host Shippensburg in yesterday's semifinals. Pitt-Johnstown advanced with a 3-1 win against Gannon and will play for its first PSAC title in any sport, as it joined the league this fall.
National Rankings: The PSAC has featured no teams in the AVCA Top 25 poll at any point this season. Overall, the Atlantic Region has claimed only one team (Wheeling Jesuit) in the national poll.
Regional Rankings: Cal U dropped one spot to No. 3 in the Atlantic regional rankings, while Pitt-Johnstown fell one place to No. 8 in the regional rankings. This week's regional rankings only considered matches played through last weekend with the final rankings and NCAA selections being announced Monday night.
Records: Cal U enters the final with an overall record of 28-7 and a PSAC mark of 19-3. The Vulcans recorded 12-straight wins earlier this season before they split their last six matches to close the regular season. Pitt-Johnstown comes into the title game with a record of 25-10 and 15-7 in conference action. UPJ lost two of its last three regular-season matches prior to the league tournament and are 1-5 against the top-five teams in the Atlantic Region.
Scouting the Vulcans: Cal U has one of the best offenses in the conference, ranking second with 13.11 kills per set and third with a .211 hitting percentage. Defensively, the Vulcans are posting 17.55 digs per set, second-best in the league, and opponents are hitting .125 against Cal U.
Cal U is one of two schools in the conference with two players among the top-10 in kills. Junior
Laurel Miller ranks third with 3.69 kills per set, while
Molly Delaney sits at 10th with 2.93 per set. Sophomore
Miranda Fouzie leads the team and ranks eighth in the PSAC with a career-high .289 hitting percentage, while also pacing the team with 102 blocks this season.
The Vulcans have utilized three primary setters this season with freshman
Julie Henderson leading the team with 9.81 assists per set, but she has not played since Oct. 12. Freshman kristen Scurpa has totaled 6.97 assists per set this season, while senior
Abbey Freund is recording 6.77 assists per match, including a team-high 18 against Shippensburg in the semifinals, since making her season debut on Oct. 11.
The Vulcans feature three players with 250-plus digs this season with libero

Vulcans in the Playoffs: Cal U has made the PSAC Tournament in each of the last nine years and has advanced to the championship match for the ninth time since 1991, and seventh time in the last nine years. The Vulcans rank second in league history with seven conference titles, including four in five years from 2007-11.
Scouting the Mountain Cats: Pitt-Johnstown finished second in the PSAC East in its first season competing in the league. The team leads the conference with a .228 hitting percentage and features two of the league's most efficient hitters. Senior Beth Kendera leads the PSAC with a .325 hitting percentage and classmate Ashley DiRado sits seventh with a .305 clip, while freshman Marissa Erminio leads the team and ranks fifth in the conference with 3.65 kills per set.
Freshman Allison Mondorff guides the Mountain Cats' offense with a 9.96 assists per set to rank third in the PSAC and the defense is led by junior Katie Svethaor and her 4.12 digs per set. Kendera defends the net with 138 blocks this season, ranking third in the conference.
Pitt-Johnstown in the Playoffs: The Mountain Lions are competing in the PSAC for the first time this season, advancing to the tournament finals. Pitt-Johnstown was eliminated in the first round in each of the last two seasons in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) Tournament.
Series: Cal U and UPJ met for the first time in over a decade this season when the Vulcans claimed a 3-0 win over the Mountain Cats in PSAC Crossover play at the Convocation Center.

Box Score) The Vulcans earned a 3-0 win (25-12, 25-20, 25-9) over Pitt-Johnstown on Sept. 27 at the Convocation Center. Cal U held the Mountain Lions to a season-low .018 hitting percentage and only 21 kills in the match. Conversely, the Vulcans hit a season-best .355 with only seven errors. Delaney led Cal U with 14 kills and hit a season-high .464 for the match.
Head Coaches: Peter Letourneau is in his third season at the helm of the Cal U program after serving as head coach at Frostburg State for six years. He has led the team to a 91-20 overall record as head coach, including a 51-9 mark in conference play. Letourneau led the Vulcans to their most recent PSAC Championship in 2011 while being selected PSAC West Coach of the Year.
A former All-American at Cal U, Joanna (Nist) Haupt is in her first season as head coach at Pitt-Johnstown. The Mountain Cats are having their best season in recent memory, surpassing the 20-win mark for the first time since 2008. Haupt was an assistant coach at Pitt-Johnstown last season prior to taking the reins of the program.
Looking Ahead: The winner will claim the 2013 PSAC Tournament Championship and earn an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament. The losing team will wait for the NCAA Division II Selection Show, which is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 25, with a live webcast on NCAA.com at 7:30 p.m.
