Erin Hogan (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) tied and broke the all-time school record for assists on Wednesday afternoon, as the No. 9 Vulcans posted a 5-0 shutout victory against Mansfield in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play.
With the win, the California University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team extends its winning streak to 10 games and improves to 10-2-1 overall. The Vulcans also remain in first place in the league standings with 30 points behind a 10-1 conference record. Meanwhile, the Mountaineers fall to 4-8-1 this season with a 3-8-1 mark in league action.
Hogan tied her career high with five points on one goal and three assists, marking the third three-assist game of her career. With her performance, she surpassed the school record of 35 assists set by Hall of Famer
Kim Kottmeier (1992-95). Hogan ranks second in the PSAC this year with 11 assists after leading the league in assists the last two seasons. A three-starter, she already is fourth in PSAC history with 37 career assists with Heather Orman (1994-97) of Lock Haven holding the league record at 47 assists.

Bethany Smyda (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford) closed the scoring with a goal off a cross by Hogan with 19 seconds left in regulation,
Smyda now ranks seventh all-time in school history with 23 goals and 62 points.

Meghan Jayes (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) recorded her third shutout of the season, making one save against Mansfield. The Vulcans out-shot the Mountaineers by a 20-1 margin and posted a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.
