Vulcans record win over Seton Hill

Warunek becomes first player with multi-goal game since 2022; DeGlopper scores on free kick

CALIFORNIA (Oct. 29) – Junior Veronica Warunek tallied a pair of goals on Wednesday night, as the Vulcans posted a 3-1 win over Seton Hill in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play at the Phillipsburg Soccer Facility.

NOTES
• California (2-11-2, 2-8-2) has totaled five goals over its back-to-back wins.
• Warunek became the first player with a multi-goal game since Lindsie Galbreath recorded two goals at Slippery Rock during the 2022 season.
• The Vulcans took a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute when Warunek scored on a rebound after an initial shot by Macrina Robb deflected off the crossbar following a save by the goalie.
• Cal extended the advantage to a 2-0 margin at the 54:26-mark when senior Izabella DeGlopper converted a free kick for her second career goal.
• The Griffins cut into the deficit in the 68th minute on a penalty kick before Warunek sealed the victory at the 89:18-mark with an unassisted goal – her sixth career goal.
• Freshmen Autumn Bishop and Kaleigh Rexroad split time in net with each playing 45 minutes.
• Bishop posted a scoreless first half, while Rexroad made one save in her third appearance of the year.
• Seton Hill finished with an 8-7 shot advantage and held a 2-0 edge in corner kicks.

NEXT
• The Vulcans return to action on Saturday, Nov. 1, when they travel to face IUP at 12 p.m.
