ERIE, Pa. (Nov. 16) – Despite a career-high 21 kills by senior
Meghan Franz (Cranberry Twp., Pa./Seneca Valley), the California University of Pennsylvania volleyball team suffered a 3-2 loss (25-22, 16-25, 25-21, 20-25, 15-12) to Lock Haven in the semifinals of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament on Friday evening at the Hammermill Center.
With the loss, the Vulcans fall to 28-7 overall and must wait on an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament. Cal U has been the top-ranked team in the Atlantic region for the last three weeks and the NCAA Selection Show is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 18, at 10 p.m. Meanwhile, Lock Haven improves to 26-9 this year and will face host Gannon in the league championship tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 17.
Franz, a three-time All-PSAC West First-Team selection, totaled 21 kills on a .571 hitting percentage and collected three blocks and two service aces on Friday night. Classmate
Brandy Harris (Bedford, Pa./Bedford) tallied her 10th double-double of the year, posting 13 kills and 11 digs against the Bald Eagles.

Kelly Fromknecht (Erie, Pa./McDowell) recorded a season-high 31 assists and added nine kills and three service aces. Sophomore
Julia Muzy (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/Liceu Franco Brasileiro) totaled eight kills and 11 digs in the loss, while freshman
Miranda Fouzie (Kingston, Ontario/Sydenham) posted five kills on six attempts and four blocks.
Junior
Abbey Freund (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove), who was named the PSAC Champion Scholar for the second-straight year earlier in the night, added 22 assists and eight digs. Classmate
Molly Delaney led the team with 14 digs in the losing effort.
