SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. (Oct. 27) – The California University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team closed the regular season on Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 victory at Shippensburg in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.

With the win, the Vulcans improve to 11-6-1 overall with a 5-3-1 mark in league play. Cal U has secured the fifth seed in next week's PSAC Tournament and will travel to face fourth-seeded Millersville in the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, Shippensburg finishes the year with a 5-9-2 overall record a 2-6-1 mark in conference action.

Cal U took a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute when sophomore Brad Colvin (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) scored his fifth goal of the year with assists from classmates Tyler Woolum (Gahanna, Ohio/Gahanna Lincoln) and Kevin Helbig (Carnegie, Pa./Chartiers Valley). The Vulcans added an insurance goal at the 58:37-mark when senior Chris Moehler (Centreville, Va./Paul VI Catholic) recorded his team-leading ninth goal on a penalty kick.

Sophomore Shane Donovan (Pipersville, Pa./Central Bucks East) and junior Alex Heston (Des Moines, Iowa/Roosevelt) combined for the shutout with Donovan making six saves in nearly 70 minutes of action. Raiders senior Andrew Foran finished with four saves in the losing effort.

Cal U will be making its second-straight appearance in the PSAC Tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 30, when it travels to Millersville at 6 p.m. The Marauders earned a 2-1 victory against the Vulcans earlier this season after winning all three meetings last year, including two in the post-season.
