Weather forces no contest at Charleston

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Sept. 3) –The No. 12 California University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team held a 1-0 lead on Saturday evening before its game at Charleston (W.Va.) was declared a no contest due to weather conditions.

The game was halted around the 50th minute due to lightning and was unable to resume due to severe weather conditions around the area.

The Vulcans took a 1-0 lead in the first half when junior Carley Work (Hopewell, Pa./Hopewell) converted a penalty kick near the 20th minute.

Cal U is scheduled to open Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at IUP. Last year, the Vulcans posted a 2-0 win over the Crimson Hawks in the PSAC Tournament after the two teams battled to a 0-0 tie during the regular season.
