INDIANA, Pa. (April 11) – Junior Paul Babashanian (Chesapeake, Va./Great Bridge) tied for seventh on the individual leaderboard with a seven-over 149 (75-74), as the Vulcans tied for seventh in the team standings on Monday at the Cecil Spadafora Invitational hosted by IUP at the Indiana Country Club.

The California University of Pennsylvania men's golf team tied Ohio Valley (W.Va.) for seventh with a 47-over 615 (308-307). The host Crimson Hawks won the 19-team invitational by three strokes with a 14-over 582 (283-299) and featured the medalist in junior Brad Boyle, who shot a four-under 138 (64-74). Concord, the top-ranked team in the Atlantic Region, finished second in the team standings with a 17-over 587 (302-283) behind the play of four top-10 golfers.

Babashanian finished in a six-way tie for seventh overall at seven-over 149 (75-74) in a field of 94 golfers at IUP. He has been the team's low scorer five times this season and now leads the Vulcans with a scoring average of 76.2 strokes.

Redshirt freshman Chris Tull (Bluffton, S.C./Heritage Academy) and junior Austin Stoddard (Pittsfield, Pa./Youngsville) tied for second on the team with a 13-over 155. Both players shot identical scores in each round with a six-over 77 in the opening round before carding a seven-over 78 in the second round.

Freshman Nick Erlichman (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) rounded out the Cal U scorers with a 14-over 156 (79-77) and tied for 44th at IUP, while sophomore Justin Newbauer (Georgetown, Pa./South Side) posted a 21-over 163 (79-84) to tie for 74th overall.

The Vulcans, who were fourth in the Atlantic Regional rankings as of April 1, now will wait if they are selected to compete at the NCAA Super Regionals.
