WASHINGTON, Pa. (March 24) – The California (PA) men's golf team finished in a four-way tie for second place, just three strokes behind the winner, while hosting the Vulcan Fire Classic at Lone Pine Country Club on Tuesday.
TEAM NOTES
• The Vulcans finished the two-day event with a 25-over 601 (303-298).
• Gannon climbed five places in the final round after shooting a one-over 289 on Tuesday to claim the team title with a 22-over 598 (309-289).
• Malone (OH), Millersville and Wheeling joined Cal in a tie for second at the 12-team invitational.
• The Vulcans fielded a full 'B' team that placed sixth overall at 31-over 607 (303-3040).
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
• Juniors
Anthony DePietress and
Jacob Pedley both tied for third on the individual leader board with a two-over 146.
• DePietress opened play with a two-over 74 before shooting an even-par 72 on Tuesday.
• He recorded four birdies in the second round, including the par-five 15th for the second-straight day, and posted the top individual finish of his career.
• Pedley, who was playing on the 'B' team, fired a one-under 71 in the final round after posting a three-over 75 on Monday.
• He tied for second in the field of 70 golfers with 26 pars over the two rounds.
• Juniors
Chaz Ekoniak and
Gavin Goodrich tied for second on the team after both finished with a seven-over 151.
• Gannon junior Mattia Parrini captured medalist honors by four strokes with a four-under 140 (72-68).

• The Vulcans are idle until competing at the MEC Spring Classic hosted by Wheeling on April 7-8.
