Men's Golf finishes third at Concord Invite

DANIELS, W.Va. (March 20) – Junior Paul Babashanian (Chesapeake, Va./Great Bridge) tied for fourth overall on the individual leaderboard, as the California University of Pennsylvania men's golf team finished in third place at the Concord Invitational hosted at the Glade Springs Resort.

The Vulcans carded a three-round total of 48-over 912 (296-305-311) to place third in the 12-team field. The host Mountain Lions won the invitational title by 14 strokes with a 24-over 888 (293-295-300) after featuring four of the top-10 golfers. Concord senior Ryan Terdik and Ohio Valley (W.Va.) senior Sean Burke tied for first on the leaderboard with a one-under 215.

Babashanian posted a five-over 221 (74-75-72) for the tournament to finish in a two-way tie for fourth in a field of 68 golfers. He has now carded a team-best finish four times this season and leads Cal U with a scoring average of 75.7 strokes.

Sophomore Justin Newbauer (Georgetown, Pa./South Side) tied for 14th place at 12-over 228 (74-77-77) while redshirt freshman Chris Tull (Bluffton, S.C./Heritage Academy) finished 22nd overall with a 15-over 231 (76-75-80).

Junior Austin Stoddard (Pittsfield, Pa./Youngsville) tied for 26th place with a 19-over 235 (72-81-82) and freshman Nick Erlichman (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) rounded out the Cal U golfers at 22-over 238 (77-78-83), which was tied for 40th overall.

The Vulcans are idle for nearly two weeks before competing at the Wilmington Classic in Middletown, Del., on April 2.
