ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (Sept. 28) – The California University of Pennsylvania men's golf team finished in 15th place on Tuesday at the inaugural Jay Jennison Memorial hosted by Flagler (Fla.) at the par-72, 7,7071-yard Palencia Club.

The Vulcans shaved 26 strokes off their opening-round score, carding a two-round total of 86-over 662 (344-318) at the weather-shortened tournament. South Carolina-Beaufort won the invitational title by one stroke over the host Saints with a 16-over 592 (293-299) after medalist Jon Pannone shot a one-under 143 (70-73).

Junior Paul Babashanian (Chesapeake, Va./Great Bridge) led the team and tied for 42nd overall after shooting a 13-over 157 (82-75). His second-round score of three-over 75 was the lowest total by a Cal U golfer during the weekend.

Redshirt freshman Chris Tull (Bluffton, S.C./Heritage Academy) carded a 22-over 166 (85-81) to tie for 68th overall, while newcomer Mike Yavorsky (Monongahela, Pa./Ringgold) shot a 25-over 169 (88-81) to tie for 74th on the leaderboard. Freshman Adam Jeffery (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) rounded out the scorers for the Vulcans and finished tied for 76th overall with a 26-over 170 (89-81).

Cal U returns to the links when it hosts the Dr. Diane Nettles and College of Education and Human Services Invitational at Cedarbrook Golf Course in nearby Belle Vernon, Pa., on Oct. 3-4.
