CLARION, Pa. (Jan. 21) – Behind a 30-point, 18-rebound performance by junior guard
Brooque Williams (Pittsburgh, Pa./Perry), the No. 4 Vulcans cruised to a 102-72 victory over Clarion University at the Tippin Gym on Wednesday in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play.

USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Poll. Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles fall to 5-10 overall this season and 0-3 in divisional play.
Williams finished with her eighth-straight and 12th overall double-double of the season and posted her sixth career 30-point game. The Pittsburgh native shot 11-of-22 from the field and 8-of-10 from the free-throw line. Williams, who is averaging 20.8 points per game, also collected six assists and five steals against Clarion.
In addition to Williams, four other Vulcans scored in double figures in the 30-point victory. Sophomore forward
Kayla Smith (Elkins, W.Va./Elkins), the reigning PSAC West Player of the Week, finished with 17 points and seven rebounds against Clarion. Senior guards
Lindsay Johnson (New Springfield, Ohio/Springfield) and
Shaquetta Mance (Flint, Mich./Hamady) each finished with 16 points, while backcourt mate
Crystal Andrews (Johnstown, Pa./Johnstown/Pitt-Johnstown) added 14 points.
Clarion opened the game with a quick 8-2 start before Cal U rallied to take a 13-10 lead on a jumper by Smith. With a 21-16 lead midway through the first half, the Vulcans mounted a 12-1 run over a three-minute span to take a 33-17 lead. During the rally, Cal U made six-of-nine attempts from the floor. Later in the half, the Vulcans posted an impressive 17-0 rally after holding the Golden Eagles scoreless for over four minutes.
Cal U took a 51-33 halftime lead after shooting 53.7 percent (22-of-41) from the field. Williams finished the first half with 14 points and 10 rebounds (four offensive), while Andrews and Mance each added 10 points.
The Golden Eagles trimmed the deficit to 14 points, 53-39, in the first minute of the second half. The Vulcans then responded with an 18-2 run over a five-minute stretch after Smith and Williams combined to score 14 of the 18 points. Cal U eventually increased its lead to 39 points, 92-53, with 6:49 left on a lay-up by Williams and held a 30-point advantage for the remainder of the game.
In the game, the Vulcans shot 50.0 percent (41-of-82) from the floor and made 81.0 percent (17-of-21) of their free-throws. The Golden Eagles finished the game with a 40.7 field-goal percentage (22-of-54) after making 41.2 percent (7-of-17) of their three-point attempts.
Cal U out-rebounded Clarion by a sizeable 48-31 margin and dominated from in close, scoring 50 points from inside the paint. The Vulcans also scored 20 second-chance points on 19 offensive rebounds.
The Vulcans return to Hamer Hall when they continue PSAC West action by hosting Edinboro University on Saturday, Jan. 24, for Alumni Day. The game against the Fighting Scots is slated for a 6 p.m. start after the conclusion of the annual alumni activities.
